BBC S&PP restores Jewel in the Crown

BBC Studios and Post Production has digitally restored and remastered over 30 hours of classic award-winning ITV drama The Jewel in the Crown for ITV Studios Global Entertainment 30 years after the series was first broadcast.
With the original series shot on 16mm film, much of it on location in rural India, the  brief for the BBC Studios and Post Production Digital Media Services team was to integrate the 1980s source footage with a wide variety of variable  archive and historical footage so that the 13 restored episodes had a consistent look and feel.

Liam Cunningham (GoT) about Charles

Who is your favorite character and why?
I’m a big fan of Tywin. Charlie Dance is a fantastic actor. I mean, he’s a national treasure in this country and he’s one of those guys that is just eminently watchable. He always brings something sexy and deep and full of gravitas to the role – only a man like him can walk in and have Cersei, Tyrion and Jaime cower like children in front of him. It’s the same with Peter [Dinklage]. Peter’s such a fantastically subtle actor and he has some of the best lines in the show. And then to see the development of somebody like Rory McCann, (The Hound), who’s essentially a thug in season one, and an enforcer – to see the humanity coming out in him is glorious.

Reaction to Joffrey death

Charles Dance (Tywin Lannister) on how Joffrey’s death impacts Tywin’s plans: “Well, it hasn’t come a moment too soon, really. It does help Tywin, because I’ve sorted out who I want to marry who. It’s all about maintaining the status quo really — making sure the Lannisters stay up there. Whether it’s getting help from the Dornish or the Tyrells, the most prominent house in the seven kingdoms is the house of Lannister, so I have to do whatever it takes to make sure that that situation stays. And way over in the east there’s these continuous rumors about this Targaryan girl with her dragons that I’m trying not to think about — let’s cross that bridge when we come to it. But now that we’ve got Joffrey out of the way, the young man that I want to put on the throne I can put on the throne … the death of Joffrey is fortuitous because he was kind of like a little mosquito anyway — annoying, that you’re swatting all the time.”

Vulture  asked the cast at the Season 4 premiere how various cast members would kill off Joffrey. Here's what they said:
There are endless ways of killing Joffrey! I would have smothered him, I think. Not a particularly messy thing to do, just get it out of the way. He’s like an annoying mosquito, you know?
