July 2016 - news - Charles Dance

Today I had the great pleasure to meet Lord Tywin Lannister (Charles Dance) from Game of Thrones. First time I recognise a famous person! Keep rocking Charles!"
Mr Dance will be at Paris Manga
Friday 4th November 2016
Charles will be at The Chastity
Gemma Whelan, star of HBO’s Game Of Thrones and BBC Two’s Upstart Crow, is bringing her comic creation Chastity Butterworth to Radio Four. The socialite, wit and gossip column favourite has finally agreed to become radio’s new queen of chat as the host of The Chastity Butterworth Radio Show.
Chastity and her butler, Roger (Mike Wozniak) cordially invite you to the recording of her new chat show, where you can expect refreshing drinks and equally refreshing conversation with her very special guests Charles Dance OBE, Lady Colin Campbell and Joe Lycett!
WHEN: Monday 18th July (doors open 6.30pm for 7pm performance)

Interview in The Times
In 2005 :
Age difference doesn't matter. But one has to consider children. When you get to a certain age, there's more sand in the bottom of the egg-timer than at the top. It's nice to feel you have some guarantee you're going to be around when your kids are in their teens, and the chances are that you might not. I adore my own kids, but I'm not a great lover of children. I don't go 'ooh-aah' at babies."
"Outing you, #charlesdance, for saying the most irritating thing elderly new fathers can say when they already have children from Their past life. You might feel hopeless under the spell of your never-felt-about-the-first-kids 'paternal pull' but keep it to yourself. #times2"
It’s patronising to assume sex stops at 40 : Charles Dance, 69, on late fatherhood, fancying Nicola Sturgeon — and taking his shirt off

GAME of Thrones star Charles Dance has revealed he has a crush on Nicola Sturgeon.
The actor disclosed that after meeting the "feisty" First Minister during the 100th anniversary commemorations of the Battle of the Somme, both he and Harry Potter star Jason Isaacs fell for Scotland's most powerful woman.
Along with The Tudors actress Joely Richardson, the pair plead to be allowed to come live in Scotland when backstage in the green room, following the actors concluding poetry readings for the event.
Speaking to The Times, Charles said: "We met Nicola afterwards and Jason and I both agreed that she is, to put it mildly, not unattractive.
"We all of us - Jason, Joely and I - said: 'Can we come and live in Scotland please?' And she said: 'Aye, I'll get you a passport, don't worry about it.'
"I think she's a feisty, terrific woman.
"She seems to still have this integrity which is a quality that, from a naive observer's point of view, very few politicians have."
Though best known to younger generations as the ruthless Tywin Lannister on HBO's hit show Game of Thrones, Dance has graced our screens for more than three decades.
His latest big screen appearance sees him play the straight foil of a "rather cynical English dean" against Kristen Wiig and Melissa McCarthy in the remake of Ghostbusters.
Speaking on male fans who have criticised the all-female reboot, he said: "They're talking about it as if somebody's demolished Shakespeare or Dostoevsky. It isn't. It's a piece of light entertainment and the girls might well be funnier than the men."

Mr Dance narrator of the doc Savage Kingdom
The documentary takes viewers deep into the heart of Savute, Africa, where clans clash. But instead of Starks and Lannisters, these families are made up of lions, leopards, hyenas, and wild dogs. Each episode is narrated from the point of view of one predator, as they face oncoming drought and ever more limited resources. In the midst of their struggles, they birth new heirs, experience tragic death, and form alliances.
Savage Kingdom premieres Friday, Nov. 25 at 9 p.m. on NatGeo Wild.

Geoff Daniels, executive vice president and general manager of Nat Geo Wild
"When we developed the series, we immediately saw the parallels between the battle for power in George R. R. Martin's fictional world and the vicious fight for survival in the animal kingdom, we knew that Charles Dance could tell this story the way it needs to be told. His chilling voice captures the essence of this tale of the kings of the savanna fighting for the throne, complete with brutal violence, unexpected deaths, surprising characters and even interfamily romance."
Mr Dance to Be Honored at STC's 2016 Harman Center for the Arts Gala
Sunday, September 25, 2016, at Sidney Harman Hall (610 F St NW).
To acknowledge his outstanding contribution to classical theatre in America, British actor Charles Dance will accept the Shakespeare Theatre Company's (STC) prestigious William Shakespeare Award for Classical Theatre (Will Award) at the Harman Center for the Arts Annual Gala.
STC Artistic Director Michael Kahn said: "The Gala is one of my favorite events. It's a perfect opportunity for people to come together to celebrate the theatre arts while enjoying a wonderful evening of entertainment. I'm delighted that Charles Dance will be there to collect his award and that Donald E. Graham is being recognized for his tremendous generosity-both awards are well deserved."

Individual tickets and tables to the Harman Center for the Arts Annual Gala range from $750 to $50,000.
