Charles and Sophia Myles

Charles about the relationship in october 2005
He has no plans to get married again, and reports in June this year alleged that he dumped his actress girlfriend Sophia Myles, who is 34 years his junior, in a caddish manner after their relationship became public.
"It's safe to assume that about 25 per cent of what you've read was true," he says. "I'm not a paragon of virtue but I tend to be quite sensitive - which also makes me aware of other people's sensitivities. I simply could not behave in the callous way that some people have suggested."
He won't say any more about the specifics, though when asked if a significant age gap can be a problem, his reply suggests that he and the 25-year-old Thunderbirds star had different ideas about starting a family.
"Age difference doesn't matter. But one has to consider children. When you get to a certain age, there's more sand in the bottom of the egg-timer than at the top. It's nice to feel you have some guarantee you're going to be around when your kids are in their teens, and the chances are that you might not. I adore my own kids, but I'm not a great lover of children. I don't go 'ooh-aah' at babies."
Charles about it in 2009
Dance, perhaps predictably, is very taciturn when it comes to discussing Myles or any other aspect of his personal life, saying only, 'Yes, we had a relationship for a while and she's a sweetheart. She's talented and hopefully will make it. I haven't seen her for a while, but we speak from time to time and that's about it, really.'
Charles dated tv newsreader Anna Ford in 2007

Gala dinner hosted by Anna Ford and Charles Dance.
On Monday, 5 March 2007, the Middle Temple hosted a Charity Gala Dinner for the Shakespeare Schools Festival to raise money for our new project, the Shakespeare Youth Festival.
In between a three course supper, Anna Ford and Charles Dance introduced two schools, Morpeth School and Charlton School, chosen from the Festival to perform excerpts from Julius Caesar and Romeo & Juliet. The evening was concluded by an auction, hosted by Tony Arlidge, giving guests the chance to play the Mechanicals' parts in that memorable scene from Midsummer Night's Dream. After a quick rehearsal, the newly formed 'Middle Temple Players' emerged to perform the tragic tale of Pyramus and Thisbe. It was a wonderful evening, and our sincerest thanks to all involved.

Wednesday March 21,2007 : The maturely handsome, sixtysomething pair attended a gala evening of the play The Lady From Dubuque, starring Maggie Smith, before cosily getting into Anna’s car to attend the after-show party.
“They seemed all smiles together and made a lovely couple,” says our match-making source. “Charles in particular looked like the cat who had got the cream.”
The ever elegant Anna who, by contrast, is three years Dance’s senior, was once engaged to Channel 4 newscaster Jon Snow but went on to marry and have two children with cartoonist Mark Boxer, who died of cancer in 1988.

Dance on song at musical chairs
Charles Dance gave one of the most entertaining performances at the first night of God of Carnage at the Gielgud Theatre in the West End  and he wasn't even in the play. The star of The Jewel in the Crown sat first in front of Mandrake with a middle-aged lady friend (who was not, by the way, his occasional companion, Anna Ford). They seemed to be having a fine time until two young girls pointed out that they were sitting in their seats. With a lot of harrumphing, he moved two rows in front with his companion, but this, too, proved a temporary billet. He had sat on this occasion in the seat of The Daily Telegraph's theatre critic, Charles Spencer. With still more harrumphing, and just a few seconds to go until the curtain went up, he then had to get an entire row up so that he and his chum could take their third and final pair of seats.
