Interview on the red carpet
Nicole Rayburn: Tell us where your character starts in Season 3.
Charles Dance: In Season 3, as far as I can remember—because it's a
while ago—I really start to kind of pull things together, because
there's an awful lot of nonsense going on threatening my position. And
gradually, I consolidate my position in a variety of rather nasty ways.
NR: All right, well without being biased, which army do you think should win?
CD: Well, I have to be biased—mine. [Grabs Nicole’s questions]
"When you first became involved in Game of Thrones, did you think
that it would have the incredible response that it's had?" Yes, I did,
because it's really well-written, the production values are phenomenal,
and the books are very widely read. So there was a kind of built-in
audience there.
NR: Did you read the books when you were cast?
CD: Wait a minute; I haven't finished these yet.
"If I could trade roles with anyone, who would it be and why?"
I'd
trade roles with Peter Dinklage—Tyrion—because he's the most fantastic
actor and it's a wonderful, wonderful part.
"Who do you think should win the Game of Thrones?" Moi.
"It seems like a tight knit cast. Do you throw send-off parties when one of you dies?"
Depends who it is.
"How high is the body count this season?"
It's about "that" high.
"Did you read the books in advance to find out what happens to your character?"
No, because they're all about "that" thick, and books that
thick really frighten me.
"What's been your favorite set?"
My house, really.
"Which army would you choose to be in?"
Mine. There you are.
