Clint Mansell is attached to score the upcoming indie drama The Imitation Game. The film is directed by Morten Tyldum (Headhunters, Buddy) and stars Benedict Cumberbatch as a British mathematician and cryptographer who helped crack the German enigma code during the final years of World War II, helping the Allies to victory. Keira Knightley, Mark Strong, Matthew Goode and Charles Dance are co-starring. Graham Moore has written the screenplay based on the book Alan Turing: The Enigma. Teddy Schwarzman (All Is Lost, Broken City) is producing the Black Bear Pictures and Ampersand Pictures production with Nora Grossman and Ido Ostrowsky. The Imitation Game is set to start shooting later this month and is expected to premiere in 2014.

WHO’S IN IT?
Charles Dance, Eileen Atkins (for shame, Eileen, for shame), Harriet Walter, Michael Brandon.
WHO SHOULD WATCH IT?
Your absolute worst enemy.
WHO SHOULDN’T WATCH IT?
Please God, not me. Ever again.

.......Simmering away in the background are other plots featuring a host of what are, essentially, braying toffs. They include what patriarch Charles Dance insists time and again is a "complicated merger ", though we never see hide nor hair of who or what he’s merging with, nor does he do much more than stand around and look at bits of paper. Still, it’s enough to give him a mild heart attack. Adrian Lukis (on skin-crawlingly slimy form as Dance’s son-in-law) bonks his brittle, nervy wife’s best friend (played by an actress more wooden than the table her character frolics upon); while Laura is admired from afar by an old family friend, who doesn’t appear to be able to do anything other than grin like he’s not quite the full quid.
Shades of Love desperately wants to be epic, elegant TV and no doubt the book upon which it’s based was a belter. But it’s all too silly to be taken even remotely seriously. It ends up being a shabby blend of Downton Abbey and Family Affairs, with some truly horrendous acting from the unknown, younger cast, bolstered by game bits of exposition from the more experienced ones who really ought to have known better..................

....None of the actors is trying too hard, and it’s impossible not to notice the swirling orchestra and clichéd script. But it’s no more ridiculous than Downton Abbey, and provides the same opportunity for wallowing.

More about Enemy of man
The movie in question is Enemy of Man, a modernized adaptation of Macbeth that is expected to film in January 2014. Director Vincent Regan has been working on the film for a while, but it was seeing on The Hollywood Reporter that Harry Potter star Rupert Grint has been cast (as Macbeth’s cousin Ross, according to IDMB) that caught my eye.
And then, well, look at the rest of the cast: We have Sean Bean as Macbeth, Game of Thrones‘ Charles Dance as Duncan, and Jason Flemyng (nerd pedigree: Azazel in X-Men: First Class) as Macduff. James D’Arcy (Cloud Atlas) is rumored to be Banquo. And there’s also Rudy from Misfits (Joseph Gilgun) and Harry Potter‘s Fenrir Greyback (Dave Legeno) in the mix. The film’s somewhat bare website lists Charlotte Gainsbourg as Lady Macbeth and Sam Claflin (ohai Finnick!) as Malcolm, though it also has a completely different actor as Macduff, so who knows how to up-to-date it really is.

TORONTO – U.K. banner Kaleidoscope Film Distribution has struck a deal for worldwide distribution rights to Enemy of Man, a reworking of Shakespearean tragedy Macbeth, which boasts Harry Potter star Rupert Grint as part of the cast.
