Actor Joel Jackson about Charles on Deadline Gallipoli set

UK actor Charles Dance discovered he is inextricably linked to his Game Of Thrones character while on the set of mini-series Deadline Gallipoli.
One-by-one cast, crew and extras took the opportunity to privately and politely quiz Dance, who played Tywin Lannister until he was killed-off in season four, about the cult HBO series.
Watching on and a little bemused by it all was emerging actor Joel Jackson.
Jackson plays war correspondent Charles Bean in Deadline Gallipoli, which begins Sunday, April 19, while Dance stars as General Ian Hamilton.
At the same time the two-part mini-series was being filmed the fourth season of Game Of Thrones was coming to an end.
Jackson had never watched an episode and it's why he was sheepish when Dance asked if he'd ever seen it.
"I said no,"
Jackson told AAP.
"He said, `good, good', and so we bonded over that and we just talked about ukuleles, writing songs and he was a great mentor and co-actor.
"That's why we got along so well, because I wasn't bugging him about it.

"When he was getting made-up and what not, he was getting questioned by extras and others wanting to know more about it and how it was like on set."
Dance was the perfect mentor for Jackson on his first major production since he graduating from NIDA at the end of 2013.

Australian interview : Deadline Gallipoli promo...Tywin funeral

Game of Thrones star Charles Dance doesn’t understand obsessive fans
                                  http://aboutactorcharlesdance.blogspot.fr/
HE’S famous the world over as the murderous Tywin Lannister in Game of Thrones, but Charles Dance doesn’t know what to make of the show’s obsessive fans.

It is difficult to understand,” the veteran actor says of fan conventions. “Because some of these people have plunged themselves fully into it, with bags full of ephemera and photographs and documentation and you think: ‘My God, is that the way you spend your life?’ But I suppose one should be glad of it.”
It’s a role that brought the star of classic films including The Golden Child and Alien 3 to a whole new audience. Over the past few months he’s been in Melbourne shooting epic six hour miniseries Childhood’s End at Docklands Studios for the SyFy Channel, based on Arthur C Clarke’s novel. He plays Karellen, the overlord of aliens who come to Earth with allegedly benevolent desires (not everyone’s convinced). Refreshingly honest, he admits he’s not a fan of either sci-fi or fantasy television and had an ulterior motive for accepting the role.
“Funnily enough I’m not drawn to it. I’ve never been drawn to science fiction particularly but this piece is a classic of the genre and it’s well written and it gets me out of English winter and into the rather warmer climate of Australia.”
Rather ironically then, he suffered in the heat: “I’m stuffed into latex and silicone for this job and a lot of the time it’s not particularly comfortable.”
Dance has been a frequent visitor of late, filming horror film Patrick in Melbourne and Deadline Gallipoli in South Australia. In the miniseries he plays General Hamilton, the ostensible villain who he brings humanity to. “He was well meaning but confused … The sheer carnage, the scale of the devastation was something he’d never experienced before. And without making excuses for him, he was a servant working for masters.”
Dance has played more than a few villains in his time. Do casting agents see a particularly evil glint in his eye? “No, well I hope not!” he laughs. “No in this business if you’re seen to be doing something relatively well the odds are you’ll be asked to do it again.
“But also, as any actor will tell you, they’re (villains) kind of more fun to play really.”

BBC Radio 3 : 29 days left...and an audiobook

Essentials Classics : Charles at 01:04:30
                       http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b05pr3g2
"That kernel of an idea grew into the plot for What She Left - a ‘whodunnit’ which attempts to untangle the death of a twenty-something woman by piecing together her digital legacy.
The story is told through a series of tweets, Facebook posts, emails, playlists and forum comments, along with more traditional letters and diary entries.
The unusual concept caught the attention of Penguin who bought the book and subsequently sold it in 16 countries worldwide, in a deal that has netted the publisher and author £800,000.
Emilia Clarke has been lined up to voice protagonist Alice Salmon in the audiobook. Fellow GoT star Charles Dance is providing the voice of Professor Cooke - an ageing anthropology professor fixated on solving the mystery of his former student's death. "

"What She Left, due to be released in hardback on 23rd April, tells the story of Alice Salmon and what she leaves behind, and is told using Facebook posts, texts, tweets, diary entries, letters and exchanges with friends.
Penguin’s cast for the audiobook includes Clark, who will play Alice Salmon, and Dance, who will play Dr Jeremy Cooke, an academic fixated on piecing together Alice’s existence"

From an interview with Roel Reine

director of Admiral

If you’re a big Game of Thrones fan, you must have been thrilled when Charles Dance, who plays Tywin Lannister, signed on to be in Admiral.
Of course. He was on my list, and I was like “I don’t know if we will succeed but let’s give it a try.” When he read the script and he said yes I was so excited because he’s such an iconic figure in that series. But he’s also a very iconic actor. He’s the villain in our movie and every time you see him, it’s so cool because he’s so powerful. It works so nicely. So I was really proud that he was part of this movie.
