"That kernel of an idea grew into the plot for What She Left - a ‘whodunnit’ which attempts to untangle the death of a twenty-something woman by piecing together her digital legacy.
The story is told through a series of tweets, Facebook posts, emails, playlists and forum comments, along with more traditional letters and diary entries.
The unusual concept caught the attention of Penguin who bought the book and subsequently sold it in 16 countries worldwide, in a deal that has netted the publisher and author £800,000.
Emilia Clarke has been lined up to voice protagonist Alice Salmon in the audiobook. Fellow GoT star Charles Dance is providing the voice of Professor Cooke - an ageing anthropology professor fixated on solving the mystery of his former student's death. "

"What She Left, due to be released in hardback on 23rd April, tells the story of Alice Salmon and what she leaves behind, and is told using Facebook posts, texts, tweets, diary entries, letters and exchanges with friends.
Penguin’s cast for the audiobook includes Clark, who will play Alice Salmon, and Dance, who will play Dr Jeremy Cooke, an academic fixated on piecing together Alice’s existence"
