Charles and late Roger Moore(1917-2017)

“For Your Eyes Only” Role: Claus (1981)“That was my first big film, really, and to be part of the whole Bond thing was quite exciting. Roger Moore, who was the Bond in that, was an absolute gentleman. I was only playing third villain from the left, as it were, and I had one line, if I remember right, which was, ‘Get in,’ which initially the director wanted to cut. Roger, bless him, said, ‘Oh, no, you can’t cut this line. It’s very important for Charles to say this line in this film. It’s just before he gets killed.’ So he said, ‘Alright, Charles you hang on to the line.’ It was great to be part of a big machine like that, and it was a real eye-opener because I’d done very little film up until that point.”

Charles in the cast of Godzilla: King of the Monsters

Charles Dance, known for his role as Tywin Lannister in HBO’s Game of Thrones, has closed a deal to join Legendary/Warner Bros’ Michael Dougherty-helmed sequel Godzilla: King of the Monsters. Sally Hawkins also has signed on to reprise her role of Dr. Vivienne Graham from 2014’s Godzilla, which was directed by Gareth Edwards.
The latest cast additions join Millie Bobby Brown, Vera Farmiga, Kyle Chandler, Ken Watanabe, Aisha Hinds and O’Shea Jackson Jr. in the pic, which will be out May 22, 2019. Not much is known about the plot of the film, which was co-written by Dougherty and Zach Shields. It’s part of the Legendary/WB cinematic universe, which includes the recently released Kong: Skull Island, with the monster showdown Godzilla vs Kong slated to hit theaters May 22, 2020.

What about your comedy character Chastity Butterworth? Is she still around?
“She is still alive and well! I’ve just done a radio pilot on Radio 4, a chat show on which Charles Dance among many other greats came on as my guest and we had a hoot. That was broadcast a couple of months ago and we’re hoping to get a series but we’ll see what happens.”

Liam Cunningham about Charles

7. On which character he'd want to portray if he weren't cast as Ser Davos
Cue nervous laughter from all the journalists in attendance (yours truly included). Cunningham quickly assured that he has his reasons.

"Brilliant character, who's scared his children - Cersei, Jamie, and Tyrion - all very strong characters, and I love Charles Dance. I think he's a magnificent actor as well and I think he portrayed it brilliantly. As an actor, when you watch someone working and doing something wonderful with a wonderful character, you should always go, "Oh, I'd love to do that!" It's a good thing, coz you liked what he did."
