Charles was at the BiFa 2014

to present with actress  Jodie Whittaker The Douglas Hickox Award for Best Debut Director
winner : Iain Forsyth and Jane Pollard for 20,000 Days on Earth
Charles and french actress Fanny Ardant
remember in 2010 :
"I met Fanny Ardant at the Institut Francais and we have talked about doing a project together. I’d love to do The Lion in Winter with her but the rights aren’t available. But we text each other and have lunch whenever I’m in Paris. There is a gratifying amount of mutual admiration."
and in 2011:
"Charles Dance...is to direct Now And Then for Paul Raphael’s Starfield Productions.
French actress Fanny Ardant is already attached and the producers are now in advanced discussions with Sir Ian McKellen and Stephen Fry to board the project, billed as a story about “the dangers of first love.” It is based on a William Corlett novel. The screenplay has been written by Malcolm James."
