Director Gary Shore about Charles in Dracula untold
JA: I don't think there could have been a better vampire for this film than Charles Dance.
GS: We were actually trying to get Gary Oldman for that role since he was Dracula in Coppola's film, he would have nailed it. We also talked about getting Christopher Lee while he was around, God rest his soul.
JA: I don't know if it was intentional, but when Dance licks the blood off of Vlad's neck it reminded me of that scene in Alien 3 where Ripley is cornered by the Xenomorph...
GS: That wasn't a mistake. I was doing that because of the Charles Dance connection and I wondered if I'd actually get away with it. You're actually the first person to pick up on that. That's funny. I was always asking Charles between takes about his experience on Alien 3 and he actually had to tell me to shut the fuck up at one point because I was asking too many questions. He didn't say that exactly, it was in a much politer way.

0°)Dance’s role is pretty much solely just to spout exposition and explain the plot, but he totally looks the part, and was surely a much better choice for the role than Charlie Cox, who is 36 years his junior and originally filmed the scenes before being replaced with Dance.

Charles' Ford Mustang going To Auction
Classic Car Auctions (CCA) will be offering a very special 1967 Ford Mustang Convertible owned by legendary British actor and Game of Thrones star Charles Dance, in its auction on 5th December at The Warwickshire Exhibition Centre.
The beautiful Mustang has been owned by Charles since 2002 and was a daily driver right up until 2013. The decision was then made to treat the car to a full restoration, which was undertaken by highly respected specialist Phil King of Classic American Restoration Services.
The restoration was only completed in August and now is the time for the car to find a new home. It’s now going under the hammer in CCA’s final sale of year, with an estimate of between £25,000 and £30,000.

about Underworld in 2011
I have just come back from Vancouver where I played my first vampire. He is a decrepit old Russian with electric-blue contact lenses and decaying fangs, which I had to try very hard not to lisp through, because a lisping vampire really isn't all that menacing. It was for the film Underworld 4. Audiences seem to have a limitless appetite for vampires, and for fantasy in general. Unlike many other British actors, I haven't been building up my pension appearing in films like The Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter, but fantasy has now got a grip on me.

You’re going to be in Underworld: Awakening, which comes out in January. What can you tell us about that?
Kate [Beckinsale] is very good, I have to say. I first met her when she was a little girl because I knew her father, who sadly died at a very young age of a heart attack. Richard Beckinsale was terrific. That film was fun to do. We shot in 3-D, and I had never done a 3-D film before. We shot that in Vancouver with two Swedish directors. I suspect it will be very noisy and very loud like the other Underworld films I’ve seen. There’s hardly a scene that doesn’t have some kind of soundtrack behind it, which I notice more and more now, and that kind of bothers me a bit. I spend a lot of time at home playing with the volume control on the television because I want to hear what somebody is saying, and half the time I can’t hear it because of the bloody music that’s going on in the background. But there is a great audience for it, and it’s a very popular series of films, so I look forward to that being successful.
directors of Underworld about Charles
FANG: You have a great supporting cast too, with Sandrine Holt, Stephen Rea and of course, Charles Dance MÅRLIND: Charles Dance was a pleasure. When we suggested him to Lenwho produced this time it turns out he had wanted to put Dance in the first or second film, but it didnt work out. So when we asked for Dance, Len was on it and he was available, so it worked out. Charles is an old-school actor, and you just fall in love with the guy.
STEIN: Hes very intelligent. He can talk about anything and has so many stories; you learn things from Charles.
